At a show there is no undo and no time. A vocal that is honking, a guitar that is boomy, a snare that is boxy, each needs a cut in the right band inside a few seconds, while the band keeps playing. Sweeping for it is how feedback starts. Live EQ triage is the habit of hearing a problem and going straight to the band: 250 Hz for mud, 400 for box, 800 to 1k for honk, 2.5 to 4k for harshness. This drill plays a live source with a hidden problem band and asks you to name it, then shows the cut that would have fixed it. Six rounds cover the calls that come up at every gig. The skill transfers directly to the console; the difference between a calm engineer and a flustered one is usually this recognition speed.
